As this is the first time leading a group I intend to stay local and do the Kirkburton Circular Walk which is 12 miles or so. I shall post full details in due course

The Kirkburton Circular walk. This is pleasant and easy walking over the foothills S.E. of Huddersfield utilising footpaths, tracks, and some stretches on minor roads. It takes in areas around Roydhouse, Upper Cumberworth, Birdsedge, Thurstonland, and Stocksmoor.
It was devised by the Huddersfield Ramblers, and is approximately
    12 miles in length
Be aware it does cross several busy roads.
Please meet at the public car park close to Kirkburton Health Centre on the B6116 which is on the left on leaving Kirkburton. Opposite side of the road to All Hallows church.
    9.30am for 9.45am start.
    Mel 01484 608937.

Kirkburton circular walk. Think this walk is a good 12 mile (plus).
In view of this and time constraints I intend to trim it down to a more manageable distance avoiding Stocksmoor and Boothroyd wood, and returning via Shepley and Box Ings lane.
Shorts are perhaps not advisable due to extent of nettles and thorns.
